     A BIKE FOR KEITH

2009

Keith Haring (1958-1990) was one of the first graffiti artists to become recognized as a fine artist. His work appeared in uncommon spaces, on diverse surfaces, and got us to admire good graffiti art.

Haring’s work relates well to young people, and I utilize it to teach concepts of pattern. As one of the first to realize that he was living with AIDS, Haring became a social activist and created a foundation that remains active in fighting the disease through education.
